Amsterdam streets cleaned by alcoholics
19th of December 2013A new project in Amsterdam aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour sees alcoholics being hired to clean the city's streets. Their salary - five cans of beer, tobacco and just under 10 euros a day.

Spanish cleaning companies fall victim to late payment by government
17th of December 2013Public administrations in Spain owe a total of 632.9 million euros to cleaning companies that are members of the Professional Association of Cleaning Companies (ASPEL) - and late payment has increased by 68 per cent over the last year.

UK supermarket chain cancels window cleaning
13th of December 2013UK supermarket group Morrisons has cancelled window cleaning at all its stores for two months. Maintenance Management Ltd (MML), which handles Morrisons' facilities, told contractors the retailer is facing a "tough end of year in respect of their budgetary position".
