London was the venue for the inaugural conference of the British Cleaning Council (BCC) which took place last month. The theme - Profiting from the Recovery.

Issues covered included youth unemployment, rebalancing the economy and sustainability - 165 delegates attended. The BCC said the content was designed to act as a catalyst for cleaning industry executives as they seek innovative solutions to the challenges they are facing in the aftermath of the recession. Speakers included Pedro Chidichimo of Diversey, Chris Cracknell of OCS and Asset Skills and Jimmy Hayes of ISS.

Mark Woodhead, BCC chairman, commented after the event: "We have been delighted with the enthusiasm and early feedback for our conference. We are confident that all those in attendance found it a positive and productive day, and we are already planning another even more ambitious event for next year."
