Guns, cash and porn films among items found in hotel rooms
9th of February 2022Guns, cash and drug paraphernalia are among the items to have been found by hotel cleaners and other staff members after guests have checked out.
And the more unsavoury items left behind include dirty nappies, skin flakes and nail clippings.
A discussion began on Reddit when hotel workers were asked about the most unusual items they had found in rooms after guests had left.
One staff member claimed to have uncovered a gun stashed beneath a mattress, while another recalled the time when a Las Vegas high-roller left $328,000 in cash in the safe in his suite.
Other odd finds included a 1970s photo album, a purple lightsaber, a porn film on an SD card, a car's licence plate and hundreds of live crickets.
Drug paraphernalia was a common find, with one cleaner claiming to have found more than a dozen needles under the bedskirt, and another discovering "a literal crack pipe in the freezer'.
The worker added: 'I was told to never ask questions and to just throw away any drugs we found.'
One cleaner found a thick layer of nail clippings lining the bottom of the ice bucket, while another discovered that the en suite bath had been filled with dirty nappies.
And one staff member spent a week cleaning a room where the carpet permanently seemed to be coated by flakes of skin from wall to wall: "Every day I'd hoover it up and every day it would be back again," claimed the Reddit user. "I thought I was going insane."
